Bluenose Insurance Brokers operates 2 offices on the island of Cape Breton, Sydney and St Peters. The Bluenose doors were first opened in Sydney on February 1, 1988. Subsequent mergers of Personal Touch Insurance Brokers (1989), Whidden Agencies (1989), Sovereign General Insurance Company's last retiring staff member, George Carmichael's book of business (1991) and Wayne Doucett Insurance (1995) have helped Bluenose grow to our present solid state.

Jean Dugas, CAIB started Bluenose Insurance Brokers in February of 1988 when she felt there was a need for a local insurance brokerage that treated both the clients and their employees as the most important aspect of their business. I believe she succeeded in that quest.

Jean is proud to be involved in many local and regional issues, Past President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia, advisory board member of the Sydney and area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Sydney Kiwanis club, and past and present member of several local sport & recreation clubs.
